I was so excited when Ella contacted me about shooting her wonderful family in Deep Cove, North Vancouver. It one of my very favourite places in the Vancouver area! It has a very quaint, ‘small town’, sea-side village vibe… all while being just 20 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Vancouver. No summer is complete without a day spent in Deep Cove!
We met “at the icecream parlour in town” (love that!) and went off to explore the park from there. Their boys, 7 & 5 years, were so wonderful to work with and so cooperative! Quick to give genuine smiles, and happy to follow my loose posing direction. I heard Ella remark several times, “Why don’t you pose like this for Mommy?!” which made me laugh!
There were a few aspects of this shoot that made it extra special::
1- It took place on Ella & Scott’s 11th wedding anniversary! HUGE congratulations to them!
2- Ella’s Parents were in town from England during the session, and it was so awesome to include them in the session. It’s not often that I get to shoot an ‘extended’ family like this…Though, I have to say; While grandma & grandpa may LIVE far away, I didn’t get the feeling that there was anything ‘extended’ about their incredible relationship with their darling grandsons!
Thanks for an awesome afternoon, M* Family! I hope to see you guys around the Holidays for some fun Holiday Portraits! xoxo
I have been looking forward to my session with the D* family ever since they won my Photo Shoot Giveaway Contest in the spring. I was really hoping to be able to shoot them sooner, but well.. Life happens and schedules can sometimes be hard to overlap. But! It ended up being well worth the wait.
I chose Vancouver’s beautiful Trout Lake Park as the backdrop for this session, because of it’s quiet, serene location right in the middle of the hubbub of central Vancouver. It truly is like a little oasis. Twins Jada & Maya and their big brother Gavin certainly kept me on my toes for the entire shoot; I dashing here & there & everywhere just to keep up and capture all of their precious antics. I love these sorts of shoots though- the ones where the kids are just so totally *themselves* that capturing their true personalities (even though they’re busy!) is easy as pie. Still though, my hat goes off to their Mom (and amazing Nanny who came along to lend a hand!) for doing it every single day and making it look effortless.
Thanks for the wonderful shoot, D* Family!! I hope to see you again very soon.
Here is a mash-up of some of my work from June! Enjoy!
The ‘D’ family was the runner up in my Photo Shoot Giveaway Contest in March. Their ADORABLE, identical twin boys stole the hearts of voters… And it’s no wonder! Carter & Daniel are absolutely adorable.
We spent a fabulous hour together at Charleson Park– exploring, playing, running & laughing. I mostly hung back and let this little family do their own thing, while snapping ‘candidly’ on the sidelines. The results, I think, is a really ‘natural’ & alive looking session. Enjoy!
I did a little Easter Mini-Session with my niece yesterday! This year was her very first Easter and so I thought it would be fun to do a ‘themed’ shoot. Nova looked adorable (as usual) and was such a good sport— even though she did NOT like those bunny ears!
And one hilarious out-take to prove that every shoot has it’s trials and tribulations!
First off- I should mention that this post is incredibly late. In fact, I likely wouldn’t have thought to share these images had a certain someone not poked me an not-so-subtle way (I love you, Liz!) However, I am a firm believer that it’s always ‘better late than never’ so in the spirit of that, here we go!
Last October I had the pleasure of joining Elizabeth & her fabulous twin girls Charlotte & Poppy (who were 17 months old at the time) to the Richmond Country Farms Pumpkin Patch. I grew up in this area, but it was my very first time visiting this particular Pumpkin Patch, and man was it fun! Hayrides, Sing-a-longs, Live band, Farm Animals, Free apples and of course, all the muddy, squelchy, messy pumpkin-adventure fun that you could ever dream of.
Charlotte & Poppy were so adorable tromping through the patch while they searched for just the right pumpkin, and Liz & I certainly had our hands full lugging their selections (and a couple of mucky toddlers!) back to the hayride! What a day!
Thanks to Richmond County Farm for a fabulous morning & to Liz & the girls for letting me tag along. Let’s do it again next fall!
I was recently invited to attend a super fun 4th Birthday Party. I had such a blast hanging out and capturing some great action shots and smiling faces. Vancouver’s ‘Jump’ Gymnastics did a wonderful job hosting the event and keeping this group of a dozen 3-4 year olds laughing & moving. The afternoon was rounded off with some fabulous, colourful cupcakes from ‘Cupcakes’ (by Heather & Lori). The kids really got down & messy (is there any other way to truly enjoy a cupcake?!) and I loved snapping candid shots of those smudged faces.
Please consider Tamara Lakeman Photography for your next party! Having a professional photographer there allows you to be able to really relax & enjoy those special moments.
